The Eiffel tower is to Paris as the magnificent Tororo Rock is to Tororo district. Like a typical African homestead with the main hut surrounded by other huts, life’s activities in the district seem to be centered around the towering Tororo Rock. The rock has brought both fame and wealth to the district. Viewed from any where in the district, Tororo Rock is a major tourist attraction in the district. This is in additional to the trade opportunities, fertile soils and a host of mineral riches in form of lime.

Like many Ugandan Districts, the Economy of Tororo is dependent on Agriculture, which employs over 80% of the Sub Total population.

Tororo District is located in Eastern Uganda. It is bordered by Iganga and Bugiri to the west, Busia to the south, Pallisa to the north, Mbale to the north east and the Republic of Kenya to the East.

  • The District’s total Population is 402,621. 
  • There are 80,334 households
  • The sex ratio is 100females: 94.9 males.
  • The population growth rate is 2.7%.
  • 90.8% of the population live in the rural area whereas 9.1% live in the urban areas.
